Why I Design
I enjoy applying my visual arts background with my experience in product design to bring ideas and people's needs to life while teaching others to design. I hope to spend my design career serving my community and shaping the culture around us through partnership, compassion, and holistic solutions.
My special strengths as a teammate lie in my ability to work quickly, be flexible, and communicate productively.
My UX career began about 5 years ago when I started consulting with startup companies while I was in college in Athens, GA. I worked with new businesses (mostly teams of engineers) to help launch their MVPs, marketing sites, develop their user archetypes, and talk to customers. In 2015 I interned with a design agency in Atlanta called NineLabs where I was able to receive mentoring and great practice working with multiple clients at once.
At Seller Labs, I was working on products that helped Amazon sellers maximize their time, reach their customers, and learn how to run an e-commerce business. I worked on multiple SCRUM teams,
launching three minimum viable products for retail analytics and ad management and improved two existing products for Amazon SEO and email automation
decreasing customer support time spent fixing purchase and subscription errors by re-designing our account creation and checkout process UX.
reducing the learning curve and improving brand value by co-creating a style guide and pattern library and successfully rebranding all of our products
At Pivotal Labs, a balanced team (PM, Design, and Engineering) partners with clients hoping to transform the way they build software - faster, more user-centered, and on psychologically safe teams. Here, I've gotten awesome opportunities:
• Partnered with the DoD to get a product from inception to users' hands in 6 months, instead of roughly 5-10 years.
• Consult on design rituals that build empathy on the whole team and involve the whole team in user research and solution-finding.
